Our Story
Started in a garage, still made by hand.
Sweet Heart Winery began in 2010 — a garage, a few barrels of Cab Sauv, and an opinion about California grapes that we couldn't shake. Sixteen years later, 6+ acres, a small family of brands, and a tasting room you can settle into for an afternoon.
Our Philosophy
For us, great wine has always been about more than just taste. It's something that draws us together, prompts much-needed laughter, and makes good times even better.
Our story started with an undiluted passion, California grapes, a humble garage, and a few barrels of Cab Sauv perfection. Now, from our six-acre winery and event center in Northern Colorado, the journey continues.
We source from small-lot vineyards in California and Colorado. Wines are crafted, aged, and bottled locally — using age-old techniques and rigorous tasting at every step. California sourced. Colorado crafted.

The Sweet Heart Valley
6+ acres on the Big Thompson, in the heart of Northern Colorado.
We're tucked into a bend of the Big Thompson River, framed by cottonwoods on one side and the foothills of the Rockies on the other. The river is loud enough in spring to hear from the patio. The mountains are loud enough every other season.
Loveland, Colorado is famous for two things — the Valentine cards, and the people. We sit between Fort Collins and Estes Park, twenty minutes from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, an hour from downtown Denver.
Locals call this stretch the Sweet Heart Valley. It's not official, but the name has stuck for long enough that it might as well be.
The Family
Three names. One winery.
Charles Oster
Managing Partner & CEO
Charles bought the winery alongside his wife Farah after a career in the beverage and wedding industries. He's the host you meet when you walk in — that's not an accident, it's a philosophy. Married to Farah, dedicated to shaping Sweet Heart into a national leader through exceptional wines and heartfelt hospitality.
“Hosting and serving are at the heart of what we do, and our customers are our lifeblood. Whether you're sharing a special moment with your sweetheart, gathering with friends or family, connecting with colleagues, or enjoying nature at our winery, it's all about creating meaningful connections.”
Farah Oster
Director of HR & Hospitality
Colorado native, married to Charles, proud mother to Megan and Cole. Background in event planning and culinary arts; the welcoming face behind every guest experience. Whether it's a romantic wedding, a lively celebration, or an intimate tasting, the details run through her.
“At Sweet Heart, our goal is to create more than just great wine — we create experiences that bring people together, celebrate love, and make lasting memories. It's all about sharing joy, one glass at a time.”
David Burks
Co-Founder & Master Winemaker
David started the winery in 2010 in a garage, scaled it to 6+ acres, then sold to the Osters in May 2024 and stepped into semi-retirement alongside his wife Kathy. Kathy's full-time on grandkid duty now; David stayed on to do what he loves most — crafting the region's most amazing wines.
“I watched my grandfather make a rhubarb and dandelion wine in his basement, and it definitely kindled my curiosity. The first wine I made was for my daughter's wedding. I've been hooked ever since.”
Our Labor of Love
From grape to barrel, the love is in every step.
Wines that reflect what we put into them — wines that make times spent with family, friends, and loved ones that much sweeter.
